No Jacket; An early volume (ca. 1911) from this regional, Michigan religious publisher. Beige cloth-covered, illustrated boards, depicting a woman in Victorian dress with a city in the background. Entirely in Dutch. Undated. Tight, unbroken hinges and no signs of shelf wear. Text block and covers are a bit dusty and toned. Nice collectible. Eerdmans emigrated to the US from the Netherlands in 1902 to attend Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids. He began peddling books to pay for school and, by 1910, he was known for printing "10 cent specials" for Dutch farmers. In 1911, he formed Eerdmans Sevensma with Brant Sevensma. By 1915, Eerdmans owned the company outright and dropped the Sevensma name. So, this title was printed sometime between 1911 and 1915.
